Hmmm, I partially agree with you about not seeing his face- but then, it was sort of nice being able to picture it for yourself. But you know, I always thought it would look exactly as it does in this picture, so that's cool.
Now I'm jealous. I always sweat so much over Ed's hair, trying to get it just right- and it never looks even half as good as you drew it here. ;_;

I practise a lot, but I never get Ed to look right. I've tried to draw the characters Arakawa-style, and that fails- but they look just awful in my style. D: Recently I've been copying pictures from the manga to help me.

That's really good! Copy manga pictures, copy anime pictures, do whatever you can to help you practice and get better. Just don't trace them. If you do that, you'll never learn anything. Another thing you can do is search how to draw human anatomy as well. Those tutorials are really helpful.

Ugh. I would NEVER trace a picture. The only time I've ever traced a picture, it was my own, and I was tracing it because I'd made a hideous mistake on the original. XD; Heh. I've tried a couple of those anatomy tutorials, but I usually find that either they don't go into enough detail, or the style is just ridiculously incompatible with my own. Still, there's got to be something out there, right? :3

Yeah, that's the same with me. I would trace over my own drawing so I wouldn't ruin the original sketch, but that was before I got my tablet too. Even though it's not compatible with your style, you don't have to make it look exactly like in the picture, just use it and continue with it doing your own style ^_^ You'll pick it up eventually.
